I. History and Development
Founded in 1958, the College of Life Science (CLS), was formerly known as the Department of Biology. Today, the CLS has establishedthe Departments of: Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, and Environmental and Ecological Engineering, with three undergraduate programs covering Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, and Environmental and Ecological Engineering, among which the program of Biological Sciences is a national first-class undergraduate program. The CLS has two first-level master’s programs in biology and ecology. The college recruits and cultivates master’s students in eight secondary disciplines, including: zoology, botany, biochemistry and molecular biology, microbiology, physiological ecology and behavioural ecology, pollution ecology, animal ecology, and plant ecology. The college has 1 key laboratory in Liaoning province, 2 provincial engineering and technology centres, 1 provincial Higher Education key laboratory and 1 provincial science popularization base., Liaoning Provincial Zoological Society, the University-affiliated Ecological and Environmental Research Centre, the Institute of Insects and the Institute of Amphibians and Reptiles are affiliated to our college.
CLS motto: “Diligent in learning, prudent in thinking, virtuous and resolute”
