The school held a series of mentor training sessions on "Research and Empowerment" and a ceremony for the appointment of new mentors in 2025
On September 25th, the Research and Empowerment series of mentor training and the appointment ceremony for new mentors in 2025 were held in the conference room on the fourth floor of the campus. Tong Yuping, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the school, presented the appointment letter to the newly appointed supervisor representative. Gao Yun, Director of the Graduate Department (Discipline Construction Department) of Shenyang Agricultural University, gave the first training report on the topic of Contributing Mentor Strength to the High Quality Development of Graduate Education. The vice deans in charge of graduate work of each training unit, the supervisors of newly selected master's students in 2025, and all personnel of the graduate school attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Wu Hangyu, Dean of the Graduate School.
Tong Yuping, on behalf of the school, extends congratulations to all the newly appointed mentors. She pointed out that new mentors should fully understand the new situation and challenges of diversified student groups, complex guidance relationships, deep interdisciplinary studies, and precise classification training, and effectively shoulder the responsibility of being the first person in charge of graduate education. To be an excellent educator, guiding students to establish a correct worldview, outlook on life, and values, cultivating students' noble moral character, guiding students to master scientific research methods, and helping students establish rigorous academic norms; To become outstanding researchers, continuously improve academic level, form solid scientific research results, maintain cutting-edge thinking, and focus on cultivating students' academic, innovative, and practical abilities; To be a comprehensive 'companion and leader', establish a good relationship with students as both teachers and friends, pay attention to communication and interaction between teachers and students, and be a guide for students' learning, life, and future development path. She stated that the school will further strengthen the construction of the graduate supervisor team, establish a scientific and reasonable guarantee mechanism and dynamic assessment mechanism, encourage the construction of a new type of guidance relationship in the new era, and motivate all supervisors to actively contribute to improving the quality of graduate education.
In the special report, Gao Yun interpreted relevant policy documents on graduate education, shared the exploration of a new model of graduate classification training at Shenyang Agricultural University, and introduced the school's good experience and practices in promoting innovative achievements classification, scientifically optimizing degree granting rules and training programs in the process of graduate training. The report helps new mentors fully understand the relevant institutional requirements, triggers in-depth thinking, promotes identity transformation, and lays a solid foundation for how to be an excellent mentor.
Wu Hangyu emphasized in his concluding speech that the Research and Empowerment series of mentor training is a branding project for the Graduate School to strengthen the construction of the mentor team.
