The Seminar on Strengthening the Foundation of Moral Education and Teacher Ethics in the New Era was held at our school
Teachers are the foundation and source of education. On September 27th, the Seminar on Promoting the Spirit of Educators: Strengthening the Foundation of Moral Education and Teacher Ethics in the New Era was held at our school. The seminar is guided by the Teacher Work Office of the Education Department of Liaoning Province, jointly organized by the Liaoning Provincial Research Platform for Teacher Ethics and Conduct Construction (Shenyang Normal University), the Teacher Work Department of our university's Party Committee, the School of Education Science, and the Basic Education Curriculum and Teaching Reform Research Center. Chen Baoxiang, the second level inspector of the Provincial Department of Education, Jiang Fengchun, the Secretary of the Party Committee of our school, and Zhao Liqiang, the Vice President, attended the seminar. The opening ceremony was presided over by Shen Hai, the head of the Teacher Work Department of our school's Party Committee.
Chen Baoxiang pointed out in his speech that teacher ethics and style are the first criteria for evaluating the quality of the teaching staff. The education system in the province is deeply implementing the action of cultivating the spirit of educators and strengthening teachers, vigorously promoting the spirit of educators, comprehensively strengthening the construction of teacher ethics and style, and making every effort to promote the construction of a high-quality professional team. He hopes that the attendees will cherish the rare opportunity, deepen their learning and comprehensive understanding, and continuously achieve new results in promoting the construction of teacher ethics and style.
Zhao Liqiang stated in his speech that Shenyang Normal University has a long history of education and fruitful achievements in discipline construction. The university has always strengthened teacher education services and continuously deepened teacher education reform. This seminar responds to the needs of the times and will promote the upgrading of teacher ethics demonstration construction. He expects the attendees to contribute to the cultivation of a high-quality teacher team and the construction of a strong province in education.
Mr. Gu Mingyuan, a senior professor at Beijing Normal University and honorary president of the China Education Association, delivered a message to this seminar via video. He pointed out that strengthening education must first strengthen teachers. The construction of a strong education country puts forward higher requirements for the construction of the teaching staff. Teachers should firmly grasp the political, people-oriented, and strategic attributes of education, and interpret the spirit of educators with practical actions.
This seminar consists of three parts: keynote speech, roundtable forum, and parallel forum.
The keynote speech was chaired by Lu Wei, Dean of the School of Education Science at our university. Professor Li Zhengtao, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Education and Director of the Institute of Basic Education Reform and Development at East China Normal University, discussed from three aspects: overall, daily, and mechanism, advocating the integration of educational spirit into daily life, constructing a multi-level implementation mechanism, and using digital assistants and on-site interpretation of teaching to turn the daily spirit into a basic skill for teachers. Professor Gao Baoli, former Vice President of the China Academy of Educational Sciences and former editor in chief of the Education Research magazine, gave a report titled The Spirit of Educators Leads the Improvement of Teacher Quality, proposing to adhere to educational sentiment, broaden educational horizons, and cultivate educational wisdom, and improve teacher quality through collective lesson preparation, cross-border learning, and other methods. Professor Bao Shanbing, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanxi University, elaborated on the role positioning and professional ethics of teachers, believing that teachers should have correct ideals and beliefs, focus on educating and nurturing talents, be cautious and self disciplined, and maintain their timeliness. Professor Li Xishun from Soochow University has delved into the six major connotations of the spirit of educators from three perspectives: Hongda, Rootedness, and Endogenous. Professor Lin Dan from Northeast Normal University proposed that the high-quality development of education should focus on the connotation and cultural construction of the school, starting from the construction of an education powerhouse. He also emphasized the irreplaceable role of teachers in technological change.
The roundtable forum was chaired by Wang Gang, Director of the Institute of Education Economics and Management at the School of Education Science of our university. The forum focuses on the theme of teacher ethics and style construction. Professor Liu Lingbo from Shenyang University, Jiang Shenglin, the editor in chief of Liaoning Education, Zhang Ling, the director of the Dean Training and Guidance Center of Dalian Education College, Zhang Liwen, the secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning Experimental School, and Feng Xuyang, the director of the Basic Education Curriculum and Reform Research Center of our university, held a multidimensional and in-depth dialogue to share professional insights and bring new inspiration to everyone.
Parallel Forum One: Scholars and Principals Forum, hosted by Sun Qingxin, Secretary of the Party Committee of Shenyang No.27 Middle School, and Zhu Yan, Vice Dean of the School of Education Science at our university; Parallel Forum 2 Scholars and Famous Teachers Forum is hosted by Liu Weiwei, principal of Fushun Experimental Primary School, and Kou Hailian, vice dean of the School of Education Science at our university. Participants from both inside and outside the province completed a total of 26 wonderful presentations at various sub venues, engaging in in-depth exchanges on different themes such as Leading the New Paradigm of Teacher Ethics Construction with the Spirit of Educators and Empowering Teachers with Digital Technology to Develop a New Ecology.
This seminar invited nearly 60 experts and scholars, including scholars from higher education institutions, journal editors, as well as principals of teacher training colleges, principals of primary and secondary schools, renowned teachers from primary and secondary schools, and representatives of young teachers, to share and exchange views. More than 200 experts, scholars, and teachers from both inside and outside the province attended the conference. The seminar received support from multiple media journals, including China Education News Network, China Education Daily, China Basic Education, Suzhou University Journal of Education and Science, Liaoning Education, Shenyang Normal University Journal of Education and Science, and Primary and Secondary School Teaching Research.
The holding of this seminar has solidified the foundation of teacher team construction and injected strong impetus into the construction of a strong province in education. Looking ahead to the future, educators will transform the results of their research into vivid educational practices, allowing the spirit of educators to shine in their daily teaching and nurturing, and writing a new chapter in the high-quality development of education.
